Fire Glass

What is Fire Glass?

Fire glass is a tempered glass used in fireplaces. Fire glass is an alternative designed to replace wood, artificial logs or rocks. You can use it in indoor or outdoor fireplaces like: fire tables, fire pits, fire pans, landscaping.

How it is made?

They are made of tempered glass because tempered glass is more heat resistant and scratch resistant than non treated glass, compared to standard glass which breaks into large irregular shaped shards. Tempered glass is specially treated so that they are able to withstand the high temperature. The glass is then polished to prevent sharp edges and injury. During the making of fire glass sharp edges are removed and then the glass is washed to make it sparkle.

Benefits

It tolerates high temperatures without melting, burning or discoloring. It also does not produce toxic fumes, ash and smoke. It can be used in non-vented or vented fireplaces and in outdoor fire pits. You can use fire glass with propane and natural gas. Due to its reflective surface Fire glass radiates more heat with burner pan compared to wood or artificial logs. Investing in fire glass is economical since it can be repeatedly used unlike fire wood. on the other hand, fire glass does not emit smoke, produce soot or ashes. Artificial fire logs contain asbestos which can damage health, so you should stay away from them.

How to clean the glass?

The glass gets dirty and dusty like any household thing. You can clean the glass with a piece of cloth or wash it with a detergent followed by thorough rinse.

Fire glass is available in different sizes (small, medium and large) and colors (Black reflective, Caribbean teal reflective, deep purple and so on).
